In my last post, I listed some price comparison websites. But what if you don’t have an urgent need for an item and are willing to wait for a great deal? Well, there’s a ton of sites out there as well that list any hot deals that spring up. Some of them disappear fast though so you have check often and act quickly to ensure you get in on the deal. Here are a few good ones:
- Slickdeals – I visit this site several times a day. A good amount of deals are listed here, but be sure to check out the coupons and forums sections too. There’s also a mobile site for deals on the go.
- Spoofee – one of my favorite sites, it features a section of new and expiring coupons.
- Ben’s Bargains – tons of deals posted each day albeit most are tech items.
- FatWallet – many hot deals listed in its forums.
- Ebates – click through this website to participating retailers and earn cash back on each purchase. It’s free money for just doing one more step than you normally would so there’s no reason not to do this.
A word of warning though: you may end up buying more than you need just because the prices are so temptingly low. I know I am guilty of this. I wound up with 3 webcams last year. So if you’re patient and can wait for deals to come to you, these sites will definitely help you save some cash, but don’t get carried away and spend more than you should.

i think the key of saving is resisting the instant gratification urges. I for one love having things right then and there. i am not an impulse buyer, i plan my purchases well ahead in advance and slowly price it out using those websites you’ve mentioned and then some forums. i still believe in contributing to physical stores because they need customers like us to help them stay open. i would hate it if we grow old in a setting where we can not fondle the next new and cool gadget on the demo shelves of a local bestbuy.

I just signed up for Ebates, and I think it’s great. The majority of stores I shop online at are here. Not only do I receive a credit card % perk, I’ll get it via Ebates too. The key here is remembering to add this as part of your pre-online shopping process.
As the previous commenter mentioned, saving money is really not spending as much. However, I do have things I routinely purchase anyway, so I might as well reap the most benefit out of those transactions while I can.
I also use www.retailmenot.com for coupon codes.

It’s interesting how little changes in our daily lives can make a difference. It feels as like, as an individual, little changes won’t make a difference at all since the rest of the world feels the same way…but if more people make little changes such as using warm and cold water for laundry instead of hot…and changing the temperature just a tad bit during the seasons we do have a chance to make a difference.
Thank you for the easy tips on how to conserve money and energy.
