Happy Birthday Benjamin Franklin!

Today, January 17, is the birthday of a great American patriot, Benjamin Franklin, so I would like to dedicate this post to him.  Amongst his many accomplishments, he was famous for authoring Poor Richard’s Almanack (under the pseudonym Richard Saunders); inventing the lightning rod, bifocal glasses and the Franklin stove; and being a Founding Father of the United States.  Even with all of these various pursuits, he still managed to find time to write extensively on money and wealth management.  How fitting that his portrait adorns each C-Note.

Here is some of the wisdom he has imparted:

·        “A penny saved is twopence dear.”  (This is usually misquoted as “A penny saved is a penny earned.”)*

·        Remember that time is money.

·        Early to bed, and early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise.
